Gun Store Owner Shot at an Unmarked Police Vehicle, Claimed He Thought Thieves Were Inside

Andy Raymond said he began spending nights inside his gun store in Rockville, Md, worrying about a series of late-night break-ins at gun stores in the area, and an unmarked police SUV was doing the same when Raymond fired shots at the vehicle, alleging he thought thieves were inside, Dan Morse reports for the Washington Post.
Video footage shows Raymond firing at the unmarked police SUV shortly after it approached him. Maryland authorities said that the SUV quickly fled as the shots reigned in, but Raymond’s attorney says the officer nearly ran him over. In addition, the SUV did not display its police lights until shortly before Raymond’s arrest, according to court records. The arrest occurred as officials with the Baltimore office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) released to the public information on five break-ins or attempted break-ins involving gun stores in nearby counties over a recent nine-day stretch.
