How to Wear Jeans, According to This 66-Year-Old Former Vogue Editor

If you love fashion and in particular French fashion, then you'll know who Carine Roitfeld is. Esteemed editor of Vogue Paris for a decade, she then went on to found CR her eponymous fashion magazine and continues to be held up as a bastion of classic Parisian styling. She is often photographed during fashion weeks wearing her signature formfitting outfits; usually a pencil skirt with a matching jacket or in a chic tux with a hint of a lacy camisole underneath. Jeans, if we're being honest, haven't been a regular feature of her wardrobe repertoire.

But this week, the 66-year-old editrix surprised us all by getting on a pair of straight-leg blue jeans, and even she knew it would come as a surprise to some, stating on her Instagram post revealing said denim: "I also do jeans now." While this is definitely quite the standard cut and fit for French women, it's great to see such a style icon making the case for wearing jeans at any age, even if you haven't been into them before. Crucially, however, it's important to recognize how Roitfeld has styled her trusty blues. Up top, a grey T-shirt under an oversized aviator jacket, and then on the bottom a pair of heeled silver sandals. Well, you've got to maintain the glamour somehow, right? Keep scrolling to see the full outfit then shop the pieces to re-create the look.

Style Notes: Note how the straight-leg jeans are the perfect length for showing off the fabulous heels?

Style Notes: A bulky jacket gives the whole look more of an edge and keeps the outfit feeling fresh.

Style Notes: If in doubt on how to make a simple outfit chicer, add your favourite pair of heels.
