Manhunt for Ex-Baltimore Police Officer Who Abducted His Children Ends with 4 Dead

A former Baltimore County police officer and a female accomplice, along with the officer’s two young daughters, were found shot in what police described as an “apparent murder-suicide” after Pennsylvania officers attempted to pull over the gray Ford Edge the suspects had been traveling in following a four-day search by authorities in two states for the pair who had kidnapped the officer’s young daughters and gone on to commit several other crimes, including carjacking and robbery, reports the New York Times.

The adults were identified as Baltimore residents Robert Vicosa and Tia Bynum, who launched a spate of crimes after Vicosa, a former Baltimore County police officer, held his estranged wife and mother of their two children captive at gunpoint and fled with the girls, aged 6 and 7. Vicosa and Bynum, a suspended Baltimore County police sergeant, were then believed to have forced a man to drive them to several locations in the Baltimore area before releasing him unharmed. The pair later committed a robbery during which Vicosa’s daughters were present. Vicosa had been fired in August 2021, while Bynum had been suspended for as yet unknown reasons.
