Matt Gaetz Associate Sentenced To 11 Years In Sex Trafficking Case
“I have never seen a defendant who has committed so many different types of crimes in such a relatively short period,” district Judge Gregory Presnell said of Joel Greenberg, who has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and other offenses.
Joel Greenberg, a former tax collector for Seminole County, Florida, and friend of U.S. Rep Matt Gaetz (R-FL), pleaded guilty to federal crimes including sex trafficking, identity theft, stalking, wire fraud and conspiracy to bribe a public official and was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison, Mike Schneider reports for the Associated Press.
“I have never seen a defendant who has committed so many different types of crimes in such a relatively short period,” said District Judge Gregory Presnell. Greenberg cooperated with investigations into 24 people, including eight sex crime investigations, and his cooperation may be key to an ongoing investigation into Gaetz and whether the congressman paid or potentially trafficked a 17-year-old for sex. No charges have been brought against Gaetz.
