New Florida Database Allows Residents to Check Officers Records

A new database in Florida shows some officers who have been disciplined, and those who can’t be on the force anymore, NBC 6 reports. The database on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s website includes the records of officers who been disciplined by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) since Jan. 1, 2012. Called the ‘Florida Officer’s Discipline Database,’ it tracks officers who have a felony conviction or have been found guilty of a moral character violation specifically. Before an officer’s information is listed on the state’s website, a panel reviews information on discipline or convictions at the local or county level or on any federal crimes involved.
