Two Colorado police officers, Fort Lupton police officer Jordan Steinke and Sergeant Pablo Vazquez of the Platteville police, have been charged with leaving a handcuffed woman in a patrol car parked on railroad tracks, where it was struck by a freight train, seriously injuring her, reports Keith Coffman for Reuters. Yareni Rios-Gonzalez suffered nine broken ribs, a broken arm and leg, broken teeth and other injuries. Steinke faces the most serious charges: one count each of attempted manslaughter and second-degree assault, both felonies. Vazquez faces five counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment and traffic charges. Rios-Gonzalez was charged with felony menacing over an alleged road-rage incident that led to her arrest in the traffic stop.
