Pennsylvania Teens Charged With Murder of 8-Year-Old Shot by Police
The officers opened fire on a vehicle they mistakenly thought was involved in a gunfight, killing 8-year-old Fanta Bility and wounding three others.
Prosecutors in Pennsylvania have charged two teenagers with murder over the death of an eight-year-old girl who was shot dead by the police who responded to an August 27, 2021 gunfight outside a high school football game, reports Insider. Fanta Bility was killed by a bullet fired by an unknown police officer among the three that opened fire on a vehicle that they mistakenly thought was involved in the gunfight, shooting her once in the back. Teenagers Angelo “AJ” Ford and Hasein Strand, who started the gunfight, were charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The Bility family’s attorney, Bruce Castor, said that the police officers should bear the blame. The police gunfire also wounded three other people, including Bility’s 13-year-old sister. The department put several officers on administrative leave after the shooting, but the family of Fanta Bility said that Delaware County should fire them.
