Records Sealed for Providence Cop Acquitted of Assault

Providence, Rhode Island police officer Jeann Lugo’s criminal record has been sealed nearly two months after he was acquitted on an assault charge for attacking his Democratic opponent at an abortion-rights rally earlier this year, Amy Russo reports for the Providence Journal. The charges against Lugo will no longer be available to the public.

Despite the acquittal and subsequent record seal, Providence Police Chief Col. Hugh Clements still wants Lugo removed from the force. Lugo is currently suspended with pay.
