Red Flag Law Not Used on Suspect in Colorado Shooting
Following a gunman killing five people in an attack on Club Q in Colorado, whether or not law enforcement should've used the red flag law is up for debate.
A red flag order could have allowed authorities to seize any guns the Club Q suspect had. In addition, it would have blocked him from buying other weapons, Andrew Kenney for CPR News. A search of public records found no indication that the sheriff’s office or other authorities filed such a petition. Despite the laws facing challenges in other states, Colorado is one of 19 states, plus Washington, D.C., with red flag laws. Aya Elamroussi for CNN reports the suspect will appear in court today as he awaits formal charges.
