Six States Warn NFL of Legal Action Over Sexual Harassment Allegations
Attorneys General in six states-- New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington State--have sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, warning that they would use “the full weight of our authority to investigate and prosecute allegations of harassment, discrimination."
The National Football League (NFL) has been put on warning that it faces legal action in six states unless it addresses allegations of workplace harassment of women and minorities, reports The New York Times. Attorneys general in six states– New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington State– sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, warning that they would use “the full weight of our authority to investigate and prosecute allegations of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation by employers throughout our states, including the National Football League.” The allegations stem from a February report by The New York Times in which more than 30 former employees described experiencing a demoralizing culture.
