Teens Took Over Juvenile Prison School in Ohio

A group of teenagers took control of a school building at an Ohio juvenile detention facility for 12 hours over the weekend in the midst of a staffing crisis and spat of violent incidents within the Ohio Department of Youth Services, Laura Bischoff reports for the Columbus Dispatch. Twelve teens between 15 and 19-years-old armed themselves with makeshift weapons taken from the woodshop classroom including, allegedly, a nail gun. The situation was shut down after the teenagers were subdued and pepper sprayed by officers on Sunday. Half have been moved to Stark County Jail while the other half, younger teens, remain in Department of Youth Services Custody.
