Additional Memphis Officers Fired, One Shared Photos Of Tyre Nichols
City Attorney Jennifer Sink said Tuesday that 13 Memphis police employees are being or have been investigated in relation to the death of Tyre Nichols in total.
One of the Memphis police officers involved in the beating and death of Tyre Nichols, Demetrius Haley, took photos of the injured man with his personal cell phone and sent them to at least five people, Lucas Finton and Josh Keefe report for The Commercial Appeal.
“On [Haley’s] personal cell phone, [Haley] took two photographs while standing in front of the obviously injured subject after he was handcuffed,” a document submitted to Tennessee’s police certification body reads. “[Haley] admitted [he] shared the photo in a text message with five people; one civilian employee, two MPD officers, and one female acquaintance.”
