According to a data set managed by Harvard University researchers, mass protests against corruption, racism, economic hardships, and political repression are today more likely to fail than at any other point since at least the 1930s, reports Max Fisher for the New York Times. The most recent protests in Iran, as well as those in Haiti and Indonesia, Russia and China, and even Canada and the United States, while impactful, have largely fallen short of bringing the sort of change that many protesters sought or were once more common.
