Payton Gendron, 19, will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to murder and hate-motivated terrorism charges for killing 10 Black people in a hate-driven attack on a Buffalo supermarket, Carolyn Thompson reports for the Associated Press. “This critical step represents a condemnation of the racist ideology that fueled his horrific actions on May 14,” said Gendron’s lawyer, Brian Parker. Gendron also pleaded guilty to wounding three others during the attack.
