Chicago Police Ignored Evidence Tying Officer to Proud Boys: Watchdog

Chicago’s top watchdog says the police department neglected incriminating evidence while looking into officer Robert Bakker’s ties to the far-right Proud Boys. Bakker’s relationship with the group led him to a 120-day suspension, reports Tom Schuba for the Chicago Sun-Times.

The investigation found inconsistent statements from Bakker regarding his potential ties to the far-right group. But internal affairs investigators found that Bakker failed to disclose that the FBI interviewed him. However, they did not uphold claims that Bakker was associated with criminals and members of the Proud Boys.
