FBI Arrests Man For Forging Court Order To Defraud Elderly Woman

A Hawaii man was arrested by the FBI Monday for allegedly forging the signature of a federal judge as part of a scheme to defraud an elderly woman of thousands of dollars. Edmond Abordo was indicted in the Southern District of California on charges of wire fraud, forgery and aggravated identity theft for using a forged court order to deceive an elderly woman into believing that he had successfully convinced a federal judge to reverse the foreclosure of her home. In reality, her home had already been lost and her federal suit challenging the foreclosure had been dismissed. The faked court order included the forged signature of U.S. Chief District of Hawaii Judge Derrick K. Watson and a federal court seal.

“Trust in our court system is paramount to our society,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Steven Merrill said in U.S. Attorney’s Office press release.  “When individuals forge court documents and victimize our kupuna, the FBI will aggressively pursue those individuals to maintain the public’s confidence in the court system and protect the vulnerable.” Kupuna is a Hawaiian word meaning grandparent, elder or ancestor.
