A judge dismissed a 2021 kidnapping case against Colorado gay nightclub shooter Anderson Aldrich, despite raising concerns herself about Aldrich’s dangerous behavior, Jesse Bedayn and Matthew Brown report for the Associated Press. Court transcripts show that the judge raised concerns about the defendant stockpiling weapons and planning a shootout, and said Aldrich needed mental health treatment or “it’s going to be so bad.”
Grandparents of Aldrich’s grandparents warned he was certain to commit murder if freed, but the case was dismissed after they allegedly stopped cooperating with the court. Aldrich’s Nov 19, 2022 Colorado shooting killed five and injured 17.
