Lawsuit: Louisiana Universities Accused of Emboldening Alleged Repeat Sexual Offender
The woman is suing Louisiana State University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana Tech University and the Lafayette Police Department.
A woman is suing three Louisiana universities including Louisiana State University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana Tech University and the Lafayette police department for failing to report sexual assault allegations against a student who jumped between the schools, Andrew Capps reports for USA Today.
The accused student, Victor Daniel Silva, was reported by six women for sexual misconduct. Silva transferred schools three times, all while allegedly fighting or fleeing an accusation of sexual misconduct. As he moved between the universities, the woman’s lawyers allege in the complaint, officials failed to share information about the allegations against him as required under law, essentially emboldening Silva to reoffend.
