Minnesota Jail Ordered to Reduce Capacity

The Minnesota Department of Corrections ordered the Ramsey County Jail to reduce its inmate population to 324 from 360.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has ordered the Ramsey County Jail to reduce its inmate population to 324 from 360 after multiple incidents where incarcerated people who needed emergency attention did not receive it, including one recent incident where an inmate was left “bleeding for more than two hours without any attention from correctional staff,” Mark Zdechlik reports for MPR News. The jail complex has been told to submit a plan to reduce the jail population by the end of the day on Monday.
