Police Inspector Under Investigation After South Korean Crowd Crush Found Dead
He was found dead in his home while under investigation in connection with the Halloween crowd that took 156 lives in Seoul, where police response was "inadequate," according to the head of the police agency.
A senior police inspector under investigation in connection with the Halloween “crowd crush” incident that claimed 156 lives in Seoul was found dead in his home Friday morning, Yoonjung Seo, Rhea Mogul and Jessie Yeung report for CNN.
Earlier this week, police raided the Yongsan district police station in Itaewon where the tragedy occurred as part of an ongoing investigation into the role police played in the tragedy and interdepartmental failure to control the crowd. The Chief of the National Police Agency in Seoul has called the police response to the incident “inadequate,” and agencies throughout the country have faced harsh criticism since the tragedy for failure to prevent or mitigate the loss of life.
