Six Miles Over Speed Limit? Chicago Has Your Number

Chicago speed cameras now nab drivers going 6 mph over, the Chicago Tribune reports. Since implementing the new rules, the city has documented 300,000 citations — each a $35 ticket — and $11 million in fines in the first two months. The numbers are up 17-fold since the same months in 2019, when the city was only fining drivers going exactly 10 mph over the limit.
