Union Square George Floyd Statue Defaced for Second Time

The statue was targeted yet again for vandalism after suffering a similar fate following its unveiling in Brooklyn.

A sculpture of Geroge Floyd that was recently unveiled in New York City’s Union Square alongside statues of Rep. John Lewis and Breonna Taylor was recently vandalized when blue paint was thrown onto the bust of Floyd, reports NBC News. Police said security video shows a person mixing the paint behind the sculpture before defacing it and running away. The statue of Floyd had been on display in Brooklyn, where it was also defaced five days later with black paint and white-supremacist logo. Confront Art, the group behind the statue, said people spent hours cleaning the paint off by hand and with toothbrushes.
