U.S. Struggles With Cybersecurity Labor Shortages During Onslaught Of Attacks

As high-profile cyberattacks and international threats rattle various U.S. sectors, the federal government and private sector are facing a workforce shortage that has been a long-running issue in cybersecurity, reports The Hill. The U.S. has been on high alert recently, facing the possibilitiy of cyberattacks out of Russia targeting election, infrastructure and government systems.
In response, the Department of Homeland Security conducted a 60-day hiring sprint last summer to hire cybersecurity professionals, hiring nearly 300 new cyber workers out of the 500 offers the agency sent out. Meanwhile, executives in the private sector are also feeling hiring pressure to combat increasing threats from ransomware and other online attacks.
