Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales faced allegations of targeting department staff who reported internal affairs corruption and racism at a hearing in front of the city's Civil Service Board.

Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales faced allegations of targeting department staff who reported internal affairs corruption and racism at a hearing in front of the city’s Civil Service Board last week. Former Commander Brandon Lanier and Officer Wanda Jean Baptiste claimed that the department’s leadership impeded their ability to do their work independently, Andrea Torres and Amanda Batchelor report for Local 10 News.

Lanier said he “blew the whistle” four times and accused Morales of opening investigations to target employees for his own purposes. He said he reported the alleged corruption to former Chief Art Acevedo, but was terminated two weeks later.
