I don’t know about you, but it feels like winter is finally here. Or at least where I live, in Los Angeles. Winter is not exactly a one-coat-fits-all season, and because of that, I have four different kinds of coats I rotate through at any time. While I’m no stranger to a good trend, I prefer that the coats and outerwear staples hanging in my closet be on the more classic and timeless end of the style spectrum. After all, a winter coat is something I basically live in, so I like mine to stand the test of time and be as versatile as possible.
This one is for everyone who’s about to spend the summer looking at snow. For the past few years, puffers have been downright trendy. And thank God, too, because we’ve gotten the most stylish puffers in years. Play around with materials like faux leather or suede, and you can mix it up with khaki or something even more colorful.
Slipping into a cloth coat can make any outfit feel put-together and polished. There’s just something so elegant about them! I love a good wrap coat because it creates a wonderful silhouette, even when you’re wearing a bulky sweater. Maybe it’s more of a peacoat vibe. You can even find something a little more cropped.
I love my trusty old motorcycle jacket, which adds an instant dose of edge to just about any outfit. My favorite way to wear it lately has been with jeans and a fun top with some heeled boots for date night. But you can just as easily throw it on with your favorite old T-shirt and sneakers when you’re running around town.
The coziest coat of them all, this year’s fleece trend is equal parts utilitarian and stylish. It’s a coat that works for you, whether that means going on a long walk with your pup or a more leisurely stroll through the farmers market. It’s all about the details here, with a double-breasted piece feeling more formal and the sporty zip keeping it casual.
