California County DA Set To Reopen 8 Deadly Force Cases
The Alameda County police officers and sheriff's deputies who were involved in the killing of 8 individuals while on duty may face murder, manslaughter or other criminal charges, according to District Attorney Pamela Price.

Police officers and sheriff’s deputies in Alameda County, California, who were involved in eight deaths while on duty may now face murder, manslaughter or other criminal charges, according to District Attorney Pamela Price. Price, who campaigned for her position on a platform of holding police accountable for misconduct, will be revisiting and investigating the cases with her newly created Public Accountability Unit, Darwin BondGraham reports for the Oaklandside. The cases include two Oakland police killings that happened in 2007 and 2008, including the killings of Andrew Wahnee Moppin-Buckskin and Mack “Jody” Woodfox.
The previous District Attorney’s office decided to not press charges against the officers involved in these cases. Price has requested evidence from five other law enforcement agencies regarding six other in-custody deaths.
