COPS Report Promotes Peer Support For Officer Wellness

The report provides a roadmap for small and rural law enforcement agencies to implement or enhance their peer support services.

A report published Thursday by the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) office of the U.S. Department of Justice and the International Association of Chiefs of Police titled “Planning and Implementing Peer Support Services in Small and Rural Law Enforcement Agencies” centers the importance of peer support as a part of an officer wellness strategy. The report provides a roadmap for small and rural law enforcement agencies to implement or enhance their peer support services. It includes promising practices and brief case studies of successful peer support programs from three small or rural agencies.
