Passaic County Lawyer Arrested for COVID-19 Fraud

A New Jersey-based attorney, Morton Chirnomas, has been arrested for fraudulently obtaining COVID-19 relief funds. Chirnomas was charged on Thursday with one count of wire fraud. The complaint alleges that Chirnomas fraudulently obtained a $150,000 loan through the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans program and falsely obtained $200,000 in unemployment insurance benefits using other people’s names.
