Ghislaine Maxwell Sentenced to 20 Years in Sex Trafficking Case
Judge Alison Nathan dismissed Maxwell’s “pattern of deflection and blame,” and said she was being sentenced for her own predatory crimes in connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
Ghislaine Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role sex trafficking and preying on underage girls with Jeffrey Epstein, the Associated Press reports. Maxwell helped Epstein, who killed himself in 2019 before facing trial, sexually abuse and traffic children over the course of a decade. During the sentencing, Maxwell attempted to lay blame for her crimes on Epstein, calling him manipulative and controlling. Judge Alison Nathan dismissed Maxwell’s “pattern of deflection and blame,” and said she was being sentenced for her own predatory crimes, not Epstein’s. Maxwell plans to appeal.
