Cop Who Killed Minneapolis Woman While Responding to Her 911 Call Released

The former Minneapolis Police officer who shot and killed an unarmed woman while responding to her 911 call in 2017 was released from prison Monday, CNN reports. Mohamed Noor was released after three years served for third-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Justine Ruszczyk, whom Noor shot and killed while responding to her 911 report of a possible sexual assault in the alley near her home.
Noor and his partner were apparently startled by a loud noise when they arrived and, when Ruszczyk approached the squad car responding to her own 911 call, Noor shot from the passenger’s seat and killed her. Noor was originally sentenced to 12.5 years in prison, but Minnesota vacated his third-degree murder conviction in 2021 due to what the court described as insufficient evidence. Noor will be on supervised release until January 2024.
