The New Jersey woman who orchestrated a ‘feel-good’ GoFundMe scam that defrauded donors of $400,000 has been sentenced to three years in state prison. Katelyn McClure is currently already serving a 12 month federal sentence for her role in the scheme in a Connecticut-based federal prison, Kiely Westhoff reports for CNN.

Among evidence in the case against her is a text McClure sent a friend when planning the scheme: “Okay so wait the gas part is completely made up, but the guy isn’t. I had to make something up to make people feel bad.”
