A potential shakeup could be coming for the NYC Police Benevolent Association: Corey Grable, financial secretary for the PBA, is challenging long-time Union President Pat Lynch, who has held the position since 1999, Jeff Coltin reports for City & State. Grable has accused Lynch of neglecting officers’ needs while they have worked under an expired contract for six years.

“Patty forgot,” Grable said during his campaign launch event on Tuesday. “New York City cops can’t pay their bills. I have guys struggling to put food on the table. Guys who have a problem buying baby formula. And it’s been silence from the organization.” Lynch ran unopposed in 2019, but political consultant Hank Sheinkopf told City & State that it’s a difficult time for police unions and “all union presidents are vulnerable depending on conditions of the day.”
