Connecticut University Awarded $1 Million For Police De-Escalation Training
The University of New Haven's Center for Advanced Policing has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Department of Justice to fund a de-escalation training program.

The University of New Haven’s Center for Advanced Policing has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Department of Justice to fund a de-escalation training program for police departments in the Northeast, announced the university. The program, led by retired police lieutenant Lisa Dadio and Lorenzo Boyd, a long time leader in police-community relations, will help participants develop skills and share knowledge that will reduce the use of force and build better relations between law enforcement and their communities.
Henry C. Lee College Chancellor Steven Kaplan expressed his gratitude for those involved in developing this program which hopes to have lasting impacts on reducing use-of-force incidents across the region. The program is one of only six de-escalation training centers in the country.
