‘Person of Interest’ Held in July 4 Parade Shooting That Killed 6
The shooting in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park on Monday was one of more than 300 mass shootings recorded so far this year and the 15th in which at least four people were fatally shot in the United States.
Eight hours after a shooter climbed a rooftop and used a high-powered rifle to spray bullets into a 4th of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Ill., killing six people and wounding at least two dozen people, police said they had taken 22-year-old Robert E. Crimo III into custody as a person of interest, the New York Times reports.
According to officials, at least four or five of the 26 victims rushed to Hospital were children, the Chicago Tribune reported. The shooting on Monday was one of more than 300 mass shootings recorded this year and the 15th in which at least four people were were fatally shot in the United States based on data from the Gun Violence Archive. Victims ranged in age from 8 to 85. The Highland Park shooter’s motives remain unknown.
