Rapper Tory Lanez Convicted For Assault of Meghan Thee Stallion
Rapper Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson known professionally as Tony Lanez was convicted of 3 felony charges on Tuesday in Los Angeles after an altercation in July 2020 between Lanez and rapper Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, known as Megan Thee Stallion which ended with Lanez allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet several times reports Mary Louise Kelly and Sidney Madden for NPR.
Rapper Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, known professionally as Tory Lanez, was convicted of three felony charges on Tuesday in Los Angeles after an altercation in July 2020 between Lanez and rapper Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, known as Megan Thee Stallion, which ended with Lanez shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet several times, Mary Louise Kelly and Sidney Madden report for NPR. Charges included one count of assault with an automatic firearm.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón was quoted in a press release commending Megan Thee Stallion for speaking out. “Women, especially Black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and sexual violence because they are too often not believed,” Gascón said. “This trial, for the second time this month, highlighted the numerous ways that our society must do better for women.”
