School Principal Involuntarily Committed With Falsified Court Order
Last week, Alaska State Troopers took Mary Fulp, the 2022 Alaska Principal of the Year and Colony High School Principal, into custody after a family member presented them with what they thought was a state judge-signed document.

Last week, Alaska State Troopers involuntarily committed high school principal Mary Fulp, 2022 Alaska Principal of the Year, for a mental health check after they were presented with what appeared to be a court order signed by a state judge by one of her family members, James Brooks reports for Alaska Beacon. The document was somehow fraudulent: the order’s legitimacy was disproven an internal review done by the Department of Public Safety and confirmation from the Alaska Court System on Tuesday.
Fulp posted a video about the incident, which she claimed was leveled at her by her family because of her religious beliefs. Public Safety Commissioner James Cockrell has ordered a full review of the incident. “We take full responsibility for this and want to assure the public that we are taking necessary steps to ensure that incidents like this never happen again,” Cockrell said. “This type of situation is unacceptable, and you have my commitment that we will do better.”
