Sex Abuse Cases Start to Roll in Amidst the Start of New York’s Look-Back Window
Through New York's Adult Survivors Act, which was enacted on Thanksgiving Day, claims of sexual abuse against some notable people have already started to roll in.
The one-year look back window allowing adult sexual abuse survivors to file lawsuits regardless of when the statute of limitations was, causes New York civil courts to brace for an influx of cases, Edward Helmore reports for the Guardian.
Through New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which was enacted on Thanksgiving Day, claims of sexual abuse against some notable people have already started to roll in. Sexual abuse allegations include civil lawsuits against billionaire Leon Black, Atlantic record’s founder, Ahmed Ertegun’s estate, former President Donald Trump, and JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank regarding both bank’s alleged involvement surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking.
