Suspect In Stabbing Spree Arrested, Murder-Suicides Reported Over Christmas Weekend

After at least two fatal stabbings in New York City, Roland Codrington was arrested on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, several deadly shootings occurred throughout the country over the holiday weekend.

The NYPD arrested Roland Codrington on Christmas Eve. He is believed to be behind a recent spree of stabbings that killed two and injured several others, as several deadly incidents occurred throughout the country. 

Codrington has been linked to three stabbing incidents thus far, but police are investigating if he is linked to other New York City stabbings.

According to the police, Codrington’s spree started on December 19, when he allegedly killed a man after a scuff-up outside a mini-mart. 

Codrington purportedly stabbed two men at a bar fight before stabbing a 61-year-old man the following day at Harlem’s Marcus Garvey Park. Investigators said Codrington did not know the second victim either. 

Elsewhere, apparent murder-suicides in St Louis, Missouri and Thorton, Colorado, occurred over Christmas weekend. 

In St. Louis, Missouri, Robert Woods, 36, an off-duty police sergeant, was killed after being shot several times in his torso.

An unidentified person believed to be the suspect in the case appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. 

Meanwhile, in Thorton, Colorado, a city north of Denver, a man shot and killed his wife and then killed himself on Christmas morning at a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall.

news release confirmed the two found dead on the scene were married and former congregation members. 

Neither were identified, but the man allegedly threw three pipe bomb-like devices through a hall window. 

However, none of the suspicious devices detonated and only caused a small fire, CBS Colorado reported, adding that only one person was inside and was unharmed.

Police remain unsure if the two worked together or if the man acted individually. 

A New Jersey woman was charged with murder for killing her husband on Christmas Day. Officials said the police found her husband in a bedroom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, pronounced dead on the scene. 

In Plano, Texas, a 20-year-old and juvenile are accused of a Christmas morning shooting that left two with non-life-threatening injuries. 

In Okaloosa County, Florida, Corporal Ray Hamilton, who spent 5 years with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Special Response Team, was killed by a stray bullet when a suspect refused to leave their home and began firing shots out of a window.

Hamilton was responding to a domestic violence incident in a Fort Walton Beach home. 

And in a Palo Alto, California incident, police recovered two children abducted and later released by the suspect asked them to leave the vehicle. The man stole the car in Mountain View outside a grocery store on Christmas evening before driving the stolen vehicle to Palo Alto.
