In a recent report, the Southern Poverty Law Center charged a former guard at a New York State prison with disseminating white nationalist propaganda inside the prison system, the Daily Beast reports. According to recently obtained documents, John Metz, 34, lost his job at the Shawangunk Correctional Facility in 2019 due to his affiliation with the Identity Evropa white nationalist group. Metz allegedly engaged in Slack communication with the hate group, planning “real-life activism with the group.” Members of Identity Evropa marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, alongside Klansmen and neo-Nazis during the Unite the Right rally in 2017.
