Monterey Park Shooter Reported Fears Years Before Mass Shooting

Tran reported twice to police in Hemet, California where he lived that he believed he was being targeted by his family and that they had attempted to poison him. 

Monterey Park mass shooting suspect Huu Can Tran told police multiple times over the last thirty years that he believed he was being targeted by his own family, the family of his ex-girlfriend and others, Matthew Ormseth and Alene Tchekmedyian report for the Los Angeles Times. Records of Tran’s reports beginning with a one-time arrest in 1990 may shed some light on the man’s long-time paranoid outlook. Earlier this month, twelve days before the shooting in Monterey Park, California, Tran reported twice to police in Hemet, California where he lived that he believed he was being targeted by his family and that they had attempted to poison him.
