Murdaugh Trial Began With Graphic Crime Details
Witnesses provided testimony about the crime scene, as well as graphic details about Alex Murdaugh’s son Paul Murdaugh's death.
The Murdaugh family double murder trial had its first week come to a close on Friday as jurors heard from nine witnesses over the course of three days, Colin Kalmbacher reports for Law and Crime. The state alleged that Murdaugh killed his wife and son with an AR-style rifle and shotgun found on their 1,700 acre hunting lodge.
Witnesses provided testimony about the crime scene, as well as graphic details about Alex Murdaugh’s son Paul Murdaugh’s death. Paul Murdaugh’s head was described as having ‘exploded like a watermelon hit with a sledgehammer,’ said defense attorney Dick Harpootlian. The defense attorney argued that such an act was not believable for his client to have carried out. The trial is set to continue next week.
