Two men from Pierce County, Washington, have been charged with conspiracy to damage energy facilities and possessing an unregistered firearm after attacking four Pierce County power stations over the Christmas holiday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington announced Tuesday. The attack caused at least $3 million in damages and cut off power to thousands across the state.

According to the criminal complaint filed, police identified the suspects, Matthew Greenwood and Jeremy Crahan, through an analysis of phone records. Conspiracy to attack energy facilities is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
