Pennsylvania Police Chief Killed During Police Pursuit

Brackenridge, Pennsylvania Police Chief Justin McIntire was killed during a police shootout on Monday as police chased a man wanted on a weapons-related probation violation, Megan Guza And Megan Tomasic report for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. A second officer was shot in the leg and later taken to the hospital in stable condition.
“Police Chief Justin McIntire ran towards danger to keep Pennsylvanians safe — and he made the ultimate sacrifice in service to community,” tweeted Pennsylvania Attorney General and Governor-elect Josh Shapiro after the incident.
After the shooting, the suspect, Aaron Lamont Swan Jr., was spotted in a stolen vehicle in Pittsburgh, kicking off a second pursuit where he opened fire at officers, Amanda Musa and Holly Yan report for CNN. Swan was shot and killed by detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Department.
