Two Washington Cops Return To Duty After Being Shot On the Job

Two sheriff’s deputies from Whatcom County, Washington, are returning to work a year after coming within inches of death or permanent injury while trying to diffuse a situation in February of last year which resulted in them being shot by a shotgun from close range, Brisa Mendez reports for Fox13. The man they were there to confront, Joel Young, remains jailed on attempted murder charges and the deputies’ families have pending civil suits against him.

“I was hit in the face and head, full face and head, still have pellets lodged in my sinuses, in my skin and various parts of my body,” said Ryan Rathbun, one of the officers shot in the attack.
